A Trip At Anawangin

I usually go on a vacation to celebrate my birthday. Last weekend I had a post birthday vacay at Anawangin, Zambales.

We left at 2am and arrived at San Antonio, Zambales around 5am. It is from there where we bought stuff for the trip. In no time we were at Pundaquit and from there we had a boat ride to Capones Island.

The waves were literally pushing us at Capones Island. The shore was rocky and the waves were not helping. My knees hit the rocks at least twice. Spell struggle? Hahaha. From there it was a hill climb to the lighthouse.

After some picture taking, it was time to head back to the boat and transfer to Anawangin. Oh yes, we went through the same obstacle of hurdling the rocks and the waves again. :)

At Anawangin, we were greeted by this:

I never really thought there's a place like this in Zambales.. And that's water running from the mountains on one article I've read. Bongga!

By afternoon, we went to a falls. And after 20 minutes of hike..

Not really a big cascade and the water, surprisingly, is not ice cold. I dont know, but I'm attracted to falls whether big or small. Feeling ko kasi anytime may lalabas na diwata. Ahihihihi.

The next day was spent beach bumming and a trek to the hills for a magnificent view of the island. But I was lazy to do the trek. Ahihihi.. Yeah, call it senior moment. Madali na ako mapagod. Lol.

The waters were not as crystal clear blue and the sands not fine and white but the view in Anawangin is indeed magical. We were surrounded by a scenic hill, calm blue green waters, pine trees and birds chirping above. The sunset was glorious too! We had 2 days of camp life- no phone signal, no electricity, no Facebook and Instagram. It was just great to be devoid of the usual rush of city life.

We were also lucky to be here on a time when it's not too crowded. No long queues at the comfort room and there was plenty of space to walk and roam to.

Yes, you can tell we're very happy!

Tid-bits:

1. There are shower and comfort rooms. Water from deep well (which you will fetch on big drums) is available for free.

2. Mosquitoes abound during night and early morning (between 6-7) and man, they bite! Wear mosquito repellent or cover your body with long sleeves and long pants/pajama. Ang mga lamok ay nasa pagitan lang ng 6 at 7 ng gabi at umaga- after nun, mahiwaga silang naglalaho. :)

3. Make sure you buy everything at San Antonio Market. Our group decided to get the optional meals for 300/head (includes 2 lunch, bfast and dinner) but the servings were really small, it did not even reach our tummy. Madami na sana kami nabili sa P1200 had we decided to just cook our own food.

4. There's no electricity. Pwede kayo magtaguan ng jowa mo pagsapit ng gabi. Ahihihi.

5. We got this package for P1600/pax which includes van transportation, tent, boat transfer, drinking water and bonfire. Now this is indeed a budget travel, right?!

Anawangin is just 3-4 hours from Manila. I'll surely visit again- next time with jowa na. Ahihihihi.
